❧ Expectations of The Were
Its favored traits in a priest is a leaning towards the chaotic or anarchic. It likes reckless types, those who surge forward bravely - specifically through or even because of their overwhelming fear - towards the unknown.

It doesn't expect its favored to check in, but will happily ask them about their experiences.. and if allowed, squirm into their heads to feel it themselves. It does however, expect dedications in the form of showing others the power of fear and the depths of the unknown.

It expects fully converted Were to attempt to bring others into the fold.
❧ Powers given to The Were
Those wishing to become one of Ygin's will be asked to hunt down a creature in any of Thusia's uncleared areas. They will be asked to do two things: The first is take any part of the animal that they think is useful (such as fangs, gills, claws, armor, poison sacs, etc) and the second is to remove the creature's heart and bring it all of it back to Ygin. The heart will remain warm and have a faint, fluttering beat for the entire time it is in their hands.

When they return, Ygin will neutralize the poison as a part of the ritual, and have the supplicant eat the heart of the creature they killed. (Or creatures, if the person is particularly greedy or ambitious. This will not allow them access to more than one animal form, but will create a chimera form with a mix of features and instincts.) It will use that energy and bind the parts together, forming a talisman to be worn around the new priest(ess)'s neck.

From that point on, the priest can call upon that power to transform, taking on particular aspects of the creature (or creatures); however, each time they use it, voluntarily or involuntarily, they will feel themselves slowly begin to change. They will both become more powerful and the ease of using these special skills increase... but they soon begin to have trouble remembering what happened when they changed …

Stage 1: ( for about 10 uses - Each use draws upon the talisman and does not need new items from their selected animal.)
  • Will show certain animalistic traits when transformed. What traits these are depends on the animal(s) selected
  • The priest may feel a certain instinctual PUSH one way or another while transformed (like a moss lion were might want to go find a nice place to sun when bored.) These pushes are weak and easily ignored at this stage.
  • Can call and banish the weaponization they have chosen at will and should be able to maintain it for a couple of hours at a time. At this stage, use is entirely under their control and is not affected by emotions.
  • Transformation is physically painful but fairly quick, affecting only a few features.
  • In cleared areas while transformed, they will feel calmer, steadier, safer; more themselves.
  • In uncleared areas while transformed, they will feel more akin to the animal they have assumed aspects of. Will be possessed with an overwhelming predatory instinct to destroy the nature around them.

Stage 2: (for about 5 uses)
  • The priest will progressively start losing grips on where and when changes happen. These lapses happen most often at night, when terrified or when hurt.
  • Changes become almost fully animalistic, retaining only an ugly mockery of human and animal/plant features
  • Will lose all sense of self, and be unable to distinguish friend from foe during these episodes. (This is regardless of whether it is intentionally summoned or not.) However, if there is nature elements in the room, they will instinctively attack and kill that first
  • Will lose all memory of events when transformed
  • If the were (or the were's friends) become too scared of these changes and want to break this curse or restore their mind before getting to the final stages, it will require someone to remove and destroy the talisman. This will, of course, have consequences on the were as it will destroy the bond between the were and the animal(s) he/she has chosen. They will no longer be able to transform and will anger Ygin.
  • The person under its influence (at that point) will feel that the talisman is the only thing preserving what's left of the human side of them and may feel compelled to defend it.

Stage 3: (permanent)
  • At the final end of it, after all of the fear, doubts and confusion, something seems to snap and go clear. The talisman burrows into their skin and disappears. The priest's mind becomes absolutely sharp and understands perfectly the boundaries between themselves and the were.
  • They return to their normal mind, with a boost of self understanding, confidence and fearlessness.
  • They can turn into the were at will, however they will lose their sense of self during it. Almost like giving over to an alter ego. They will remember what happens during that time in brief blurry flashes, or more vividly, dreaming of it at night.
  • They will involuntarily turn during certain nature events such as heavy mist, or when desperately scared or grievously injured.
  • As was mentioned above, during this state, their sense of self is gone. They are this alter ego. This form will recognize friends and alliances, and treat them like pack members (even normally solitary animals). They will also recognize enemies and respond accordingly. People the priest has no normal opinion of can be treated on a case by case basis as determined by the player.
  • These forms will last a couple of hours or until the priest is out of mortal danger.
